A new pizza takeaway could open in the city’s up-and-coming Holbeck area if plans are agreed with the council.
New York-style Edges Pizza has applied to set up shop in a vacant railway arch at Fourth Court on Bridge Road. Pizzas would be pre-ordered online from the takeaway near the city’s South Bank area if planning permission is granted by Leeds City Council.
A planning report said the applicant had been successful in a residency at communal work and eating space the Green Room on nearby Wellington Street. It said:
“The proposal would enable the applicant to establish a permanent premises for an existing small business currently operating through temporary residency and pop-up venues within Leeds.
“The proposal offers investment into the immediate area that sits adjacent to the South Bank regeneration area.”
The premises would serve a growing city centre population, bring a vacant unit back into use and create two jobs, the report said. It said:
“Development of the South Bank is under way, with around 3,800 homes completed or under construction and a further 3,000 in the planning process.
“The site therefore sits within a highly sustainable location and will add to the offer of the expanding limits of the city centre’s residential population.”
