Pensioner performers seek new piano player

A group of talented amateurs who have been performing for 22 years are desperate to find a new piano player so that the show can go on.

One of the group, John Hodgson from Belle Isle, has been in touch with South Leeds Life to explain their predicament.

Memory Lane Entertainers perform songs from the shows at community events and care homes around Leeds. The group of 12 artistes are all pensioners, but their piano player has decided to retire at the end of the year.

“We really enjoy what we do and we don’t want to stop” explains John, “but we won’t be able to carry on without a piano player.”

The group perform a full show lasting over an hour with up to six costume changes and dance routines choreographed by a retired professional dancer. They are all volunteers and any money they do make goes to charity.

The group, who rehearse weekly in Stanningley, hope to recruit a new pianist as soon as possible so that their existing player can pass on their knowledge.
