Paralympic Flame Celebration

As the Channel 4 advert says “Thanks for the warm up” – here come the Paralympic Games. Leeds will be celebrating the torch relay with a Paralympic sports taster for disabled and non-disabled people at the John Charles Centre in South Leeds.

Leeds Paralympic Flame Celebration will see disabled and non-disabled people from across the city taking part in a Paralympic sports taster event, where they will also have a chance to see the flame for themselves.

The event will tie in with a wheelchair and visually impaired tennis competition, taking place in the tennis centre as part of the Yorkshire County tennis championships that same weekend.

The event will be run by the Leeds Disability Sport Youth Panel, which itself is one of the projects Leeds City Council received an Inspire Mark for. The Paralympic sports taster day will be open to all children, young people and adults. The tennis event is open for anyone to view.

The event is free and takes place form 12:00 – 2:00pm on Saturday 25th August.
