New pop up HUB launches in Holbeck

Leeds City Council is bringing its services to the streets of Holbeck with its new ‘Pop Up Hub’. The Hub is visiting the Recreastions every Wednesday in a pilot project to get services closer to residents.

Services you can find at the Dewsbury Road Hub (formerly One Stop Centre), such as housing and Council Tax enquiries are provided from the wi-fi enabled library bus. You can also get help from the Jobs & Skills team to support your job search or CV writing.

Do you need help with your neighbours, or a smoke alarm fitting? Do you need help bringing down your fuel bills? Partner agencies are also on hand in the shape of staff from the Police, Fire Service and Groundwork’s Green Doctor Service.

LCC’s Private Sector Housing Team are continuing their intensive ‘Neighbourhood Approach’ visiting every tenanted house in the area to ensure it meets basic standards.

Councillor Angela Gabriel, Chair of the Inner South Community Committee said:

“It’s really important that residents can get the services they need. We recognise that people can’t always get to Dewsbury Road or the St George’s Centre in Middleton, so we are trialling bring the services to you.”

“This really is a fantastic opportunity, and I know members of the HUB team are really looking forward to meeting as many Holbeck residents as possible over the next few months.”

The Pop Up Hub will be in the Recreations, on a different street each week, every Wednesday from 10am-3pm.

The HUB will be parked between numbers 1 to 26 of each street on the following dates:

  • 14 October Recreation Grove*
  • 21 October Recreation Mount
  • 28 October Recreation Street
  • 4 November Recreation View*
  • 11 November Recreation Terrace
  • 18 November Recreation Place
  • 25 November Recreation Grove*
  • 2 December Recreation Mount
  • 9 December Recreation Street
  • 16 December Recreation View*
  • 23 December Recreation Terrace

A * denotes that a fire prevention officer from the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service will be available every third week from 11am to 1pm to give tips on how to stay safe in your home and what to do in the event of a fire.
