New Bewerley’s Christmas present appeal

Staff at New Bewerley Community School in Beeston have set themselves the task of ensuring every child in school, all 420, gets a Christmas present this year.

Jemma Seavers, Learning Mentor and lead person for Child Protection and Safeguarding at the school, told South Leeds Life:

“I am hoping to ensure that every child at school will receive at least one gift this Christmas.  Many of our children are living in poverty and some are extremely vulnerable and in need of our help.

“Unfortunately, many of the children we have in school do not wake up to presents on Christmas Day and this is something we want to change, especially after such a difficult year.”

The school is reaching out to businesses and the wider community asking for any donations such as selection boxes, children’s toiletries, stocking fillers, activity packs and stationery, clothing, and any other items appropriate for 4-11-year olds.

“Any help that you would be able to offer for this cause would be greatly appreciated, and it would make the children very happy on Christmas morning” said Jemma.

Donations can be left at school, or collected from the local area. Contact Jemma by emailing j.seavers@newbewerley.org.uk or calling (0113) 887 8718.
