NCS visit Middleton Elderly Aid

The NCS Project (National Citizen Service) came along to the Middleton Elderly Aid Social Centre on Wednesday 7 August 2019.

NCS is a youth programme that brings together groups of young people (age 15 to 17 years) to work together and undertake social action projects.

They came along to entertain our elderly members with arts, playing cards and we had cake and hot drinks. The team were keen to play table tennis against us MEA Members, of course they won.

Lorraine sang a song called Hotel California, by the Eagles. It is one of my favourites, accompanied by Harry on guitar. Very well done to both of you.

Then the group came around us members and asked about our life at the centre and beyond. I told therm I write a column for South Leeds Life, a local free paper, coming out once a month and have a news cafe and host two walking groups in the area. Also kept busy at least 2 days a week blogging and around the area covering events for the newspaper.

The group stayed for an amazing five hours. I gave away some copies of the South Leeds Life newspaper to the group, as they left for home.

I guess they can only coming during the summer holiday. After their holiday, some will go to College or University.

It was a fantasist afternoon, everyone loved them. See you next year guys.

NCS, OUR HISTORY

So far, nearly half a million young people have taken part in NCS. For almost a decade, we’ve been working with local businesses, youth centres, football clubs and grassroots initiatives.

Together, we’re aiming to make the world a fairer, kinder, more compassionate place.

NCS is a youth programme that runs across England and Northern Ireland. We exist to engage, unite and empower young people, building your confidence so you can go out there and achieve your dreams, no matter where you’re from or what your background is.

Our programme is managed and supported by NCS Trust, our central team who are constantly working to make sure we deliver the most impactful experience we can to as many young people as possible.
