DePuy Synthes, the Orthopaedics Company of Johnson & Johnson, was delighted to welcome the Minister for Science, Research & Innovation to its world-leading Research & Development (R&D) & Manufacturing campus in Beeston last week (18 May 2022).
George Freeman MP visited as part of his UK Tech Clusters Tour which aims to drive investment, jobs & opportunities across the UK linked to the Government’s Levelling Up agenda and to drive investment across the life sciences industry.
During the visit, the Minister got hands on with the latest state of the art enabling technologies from Johnson & Johnson MedTech and saw first-hand how the site designs, manufactures, and tests the latest MedTechsolutions, as well as hearing about the latest product innovations such as 3D printing and custom manufacture of orthopaedic implants.

“The J&J Leeds Campus is their global orthopaedic R&D hub and is at the forefront of MedTech innovations, from joint imaging, 3D printed materials, personalised joints and robots to assist knee operations, to hip precision surgery devices.
“This is an excellent example of the outstanding MedTech R&D being done at the heart of the Leeds’ MedTech Cluster, and the role of innovation in driving the creation of high quality jobs and economic prosperity in the Leeds city region as part of our Levelling Up mission.”
