Continuing our occasional series of introducing South Leeds’ Police Community Support Officers. Today, PSCO Rob Manning is in the spotlight.
I am PCSO 781 Rob Manning, I work in the Hunslet and Stourton areas, this area covers down towards Costco and up towards Arla Foods.
I have been in my current role for six years and have worked on many of the beat areas in that time, but I do enjoy the area I cover.
Before I joined West Yorkshire Police I worked for Leeds-based Asda at their Morley store and spent nine years working for them. I started working in the Petrol department and was a familiar face there until I moved departments; I worked in store before returning to petrol until leaving to join the police.
I enjoy working in my current areas, Hunslet is largely a residential area and contains council and private houses with a large amount or retail stores, I have four primary schools and visit these on a regular basis.
Stourton is an industrial area and many of my patrols are undertaken during the weekend when the businesses are closed.
My main project that I’m working on is parking outside schools; this is to prevent accidents and to make people aware of the dangers of parking / dropping off outside the school gates.
I will be visiting schools without warning and any parent / carer found to be parking on the yellow lines outside the schools will be spoken to or issued a fixed penalty notice.
