Many of you in South Leeds will already know about South Leeds Community Radio, maybe you are a regular listener, maybe you are a volunteer of ours, or maybe your one of the 1000+ people that has been on one of our courses?
Well maybe you didn’t know that we are now named South Leeds Media! We have been making radio shows for the community by the community since 2006. However we are always looking for ways to improve, and as a result of this we wanted to respond to the needs of our community and offer more!
Early in 2014 we started to provide courses across a variety of media platforms, video journalism, print journalism, film, and photography. In July we will be delivering our first animation workshop, in partnership with InspirEd.. which we are very excited about!
The Feedback we have had is fantastic
‘I have always wanted to do something in film, but I thought I’d be passed it, and could never have afforded it. Everyone here is so supportive. I can’t wait to get my script finished and get going’ John Parker
‘I feel lucky to be able to have the opportunity to come along and try something new, and for Free! I’ve got far more out of coming here for four weeks, then I ever have at my job centre’ Jasmin Small
Due to the success of the courses we felt it was time to freshen up our look! So from 1st June we are now officially named South Leeds Media.
Please do visit our website at www.southleedsmedia.org.uk to find out more information, and details on how to contact us about volunteering opportunities. Alternatively look out for our team at the Beeston Festival on June 14 at Cross Flatts Park.
Well done Nicola & Nathan for all your efforts, and of course to all the Vols.
