Children and staff at Lane End Primary School in Holbeck raised £100 for the Bradley Lowery Foundation by holding a non uniform day on Thursday (13 July 2017).
Sunderland superfan Bradley Lowery grabbed the nation’s attention with his fight against a rare cancer – neuroblastoma. His funeral was held on Friday in County Durham and the family asked people who could attend to wear their favourite football shirt to work or school and make a donation to the foundation set up in his name.
Mum Sarah Elliott asked if the school could support the fundraising effort, which they did. The non uniform day was held a day early due to a school trip on the Friday.
Speaking to the BCC’s Victoria Derbyshire, Sarah said:
“To see the kids’ faces, it was amazing, they were all so excited. The kids and the teachers all took part.”
