The New Year is the right time to kickstart a whole new path in life for most of us. If that’s the case for you then there’s great news if you are thinking of a career as an actor or simply fancy learning some new skills!
Leeds based theatre company Red Ladder will be running two eight week actor training courses in the New Year. Both the courses will be free (if participants attend all eight sessions) with one in Hunslet and one in Belle Isle.
The course consists of a series of workshop sessions with Artistic Director Rod Dixon and a Performer/Facilitator that unite and empower communities through theatre training and techniques.
This course is of professional quality and offered without charge to communities in order to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
Red Ladder are really pleased to be able to do the courses in South Leeds and would like to thank The Leeds City Council’s Wellbeing Trust for funding the sessions enabling them to be offered for free. This complements activity with Hawksworth Older People Services that Red Ladder are delivering in January 2017 again funded via the Leeds Wellness Trust.
You may have seen Red Ladder in action earlier this year when they staged The Damned United at The West Yorkshire Playhouse in March. They also produced Leeds Lads starring Leeds Rhinos’ own Jamie Jones-Buchanan at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds city centre in June.
At the same time, Red Ladder are hoping to extend their range of non-traditional theatre venues in South Leeds. Currently they are staging work at Hunslet RLFC and are in advanced conversations about, possibly, bringing work to Belle Isle but if you know of a venue and, more importantly, an audience that would love to see a fantastic evening of theatre or would like to discuss the logistics of arranging one, please contact Chris on email at chris@redladder.co.uk.
