If you’ve been inspired by the citizen science highlighted on television’s Springwatch, there’s a chance to learn about wildlife surveying at Skelton Grange Environment Centre on Saturday 19 August 2023.

A spokesperson for Skelton Grange said:

“This is a great chance to get an introduction to wildlife surveying, and to help us to find out more about what plants and animals live in our newest wildlife area – which we are aiming to open to the public by the end of this year!”

Every hour on the hour from 11am-3pm, there will be a demonstration to teach you how to complete a quadrat survey. You can then take your survey pack and head out to explore the wildest area of Skelton Grange. Friendly helpers will be available to give you guidance through the day.

All levels of experience are welcome, from beginners to experts at this free event. If you have lots of surveying skills you are encouraged to help share your knowledge.

You can attend for an hour or stay all day. As well as the surveying there will be pond dipping, lawn games and of course the café will be open.

Skelton Grange Environment Centre is located on Skelton Grange Road, Stourton, LS10 1RS
