Hunslet Hawks do the business

Breaking News – A message from the Chairman (07 October 2014)

Wow! What a roller coaster season! what a Grand Final! Sunday was without doubt one of the best and proudest days of my life.

hawksOn behalf of all of the Directors, I would like to thank all the staff, volunteers, Dance Academy, ball boys, Harry the Hawk, Barry and his coaching team, players, sponsors, business and commercial partners, and of course our loyal supporters for all of your efforts in making the season such a success.

I was absolutely humbled by the number of people who came up to personally thank me for my work at the Club but I am anxious that we must not lose sight that we are supporter owned and everyone contributes, no matter how big or small, and we should all take pride and share in our achievements. That’s what we are all about.

So, relax through the close season and bask in the glory of our success before looking forward to next season and our weekend in the sun in Blackpool in May for the “Summer Bash”!.

No one is in any doubt that it will be a tough challenge in the Championship but it is one that we will relish and look to meet head on. Planning for that has already started and you can be assured that the Board will continue to work hard to keep us moving forward.

Watch out in the coming weeks for announcements on new signings, next years kit, season ticket & membership details and our pre – season schedule.hunslet hawks

Immense thanks and best wishes to John Oakes who is taking up the offer to play in Australia. He goes with our best wishes and the knowledge that we will be the first knock at his door on his return! Good luck too to Richard Moore who leaves for pastures new after a short but impressive loan spell and Liam Hood who moves on to ply his trade in Super League.

I know one or two others are considering retirement but no doubt will want to take time out before making such an important decision.

Thanks also to our Club Doctor, David Maynard, who retires from his work supporting ourselves and Catalan Dragons.

Special mention though to Daz Williams, Peter Todd and Ian Johnson who continue to be the cornerstone of our success with the immense amount of time they devote to the Club, way beyond the call of duty, and let’s not forget their long suffering partners without whose support they couldn’t do what they do. But that’s why the Hunslet family is key to our success and our future.

I am Hunslet, you are Hunslet, we are Hunslet.

Neil
