The annual Hunslet Festival drew thousands of people yesterday, despite the bizarre weather which saw hot sunshine, wind,  rain and hail – sometimes all at the same time!

Attractions included a wide variety of stalls from different organisations, activities for youngsters and a main arena bursting with events. At the gala were the Supreme Starlets Majorettes, Hunslet Hawks Cheerleaders, Have a go at Zumba with Keep Fit Julie, clowns and inflatables.

Dennis Robbins. from the ‏Hunslet Club, tweeted:

“A couple of thousand people @ Hunslet gala and the sun’s shining, happy days!!”

Yvonne Crowther, from the Cardinal estate in Beeston, was an Olympic torchbearer last week and proved a popular attraction MP Hilary Benn Tweeted:

“Yvonne Crowther has brought her Olympic Torch to the Hunslet Gala. Everyone wants their picture taken with it!”
