Holbeck Together recently received a number of refurbished smartphones provided by environmental charity Hubbub via 100% Digital Leeds.
The phones have been redistributed amongst members of the Holbeck community with the aim of helping people to become better connected and to develop their digital skills.
By increasing social connections, the project also aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness, whilst also improving signposting and referrals between Holbeck Together and other organisations and services.
Phones were given to members of the community along with guides on how to use them produced by Hubbub. The phones were delivered in person on a one-to-one basis with support from Holbeck Together staff and volunteers.
A client of Holbeck Together who received one of the smartphones said:
“My new phone is really useful when I’m out and about. I’ve bought myself a new case and it fits perfectly into my handbag. I can’t wait to go out more, use the phone more often and learn new skills.”
There are still smartphones available if you are interested in learning more. The phones are available free of charge and have unlimited calls, unlimited texts and a monthly data allowance.
