Our friends at Holbeck Elderly Aid have produced their latest summer newletter. Included amongst all the latest information about the organisation there’s a timely warning about a telephone scam which some older people in the area have reported.
Holbeck Elderly Aid have asked their members to be aware of calls made by a caller saying they are from computer software giants Mircosoft and claiming they have had a report from your internet service provider of serious virus problems on your computer. They state that if the computer is not fixed it will become unusable. The caller then asks you to download a program to rectify the problem, you are then asked for a fee of £185.
Clearly, this is a scam and should be ignored.
