Help us keep your local news free

South Leeds Life CIC is a not-for-profit company. We are committed to bringing local news to the people of South Leeds. Not everyone can afford to pay for their news so we don’t charge.

But we do have costs. There are licences and hosting fees associated with this website and of course we have the cost of printing 5,000 newspapers each month. We have fantastic amounts of volunteer help, but to survive in the long run we need to be able to employ someone to co-ordinate the operation.

We get income from three sources:

  • Grants: We are very grateful to the Inner South Community Committee who have provided funds for the October issue of our newspaper from their Wellbeing Fund.
  • Advertising: We sell advertising which we are attracting in increasing amounts.
  • Supporters Subscriptions: individual readers and community organisations sign up to make a regular contribution.

We are delighted to announce that The Hunslet Club have stepped up to become our Platimum Sponsor.

We have been reporting on the activities of the Club since we started South Leeds Life back in 2010. We will of course continue on the great work the club do from sports, dance and arts activities for children and young people; to vocational training and refurbishing empty houses for club members.

You may see even more coverage in the coming months as we build our partnership.

You can play your part too. We are asking all our readers to take out an individual subscription. For just £4 per month – £1 per week – you can help ensure the presses keep printing. In return we will deliver a copy of the paper to your door.

Please download the standing order form here, or use the one printed on page 2 of the newspaper. Alternatively email us at and we’ll drop a form off to you.
