HEA to celebrate Queen’s 90th in style

The Queens recent 90th Birthday celebrations took place in the private grounds of Windsor Castle over the weekend of 12-15 May 2016. HEA is marking Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday with their own regal event.

As one of the 37 Neighbourhood Network Schemes in Leeds, HEA (formerly Holbeck Elderly Aid) is celebrating the Queen’s birthday by hosting a party and inviting other networks to join together and make this is a social gathering to remember.

In honour of Queen Elizabeth II 90th Birthday, HEA has organised an evening event at The Hunslet Club, Hillidge Road, Leeds, LS10 on Friday 10 June from 7pm onwards. Local singing group Songsational will entertain the 130 service users, other South Leeds charities such as Middleton Elderly Aid and Ciaran Bingham Foundation Trust along with our supporters, with a mix of cabaret tunes and old favourites.

Further entertainment will be provided by a magician who will perform at table tops and it wouldn’t be a party without a buffet and raffle. Prizes have been donated from Alton Towers, Vintage Tea Rooms, Wilkinson’s and more. HEA are also grateful to Parkside Fisheries and Westward Care for their very generous table sponsorship.

Taking the lead on this event is Matthew Springthorpe, HEA’s Activities Co-ordinator:

“We are anticipating a right royal knees up on the night and hope everyone attending has a thoroughly enjoyable evening whilst supporting this worthwhile cause raising funds and awareness of HEA and the work they carry out in the Holbeck area.

“Through consultation with our service users, I discovered that a lot of older people in the community have shared their life events and experiences with Queen Elizabeth and they would like to celebrate her 90th Birthday accordingly.   As a staff team thought that this would be an evening to remember.”
