Hunslet Hawks have announced that they will play a friendly match against Hunslet Club Parkside at their Station Moor ground on Saturday 7 March 2.30pm kick off.
Director of Rugby Darren Williams explained the move which is a first for both clubs “With a squad of 34 players we can basically field two very competitive teams every weekend, and as the league campaign gets into full swing we have a number of players who currently find themselves out of the first team squad.”
“These players have no other means of forcing their way back into head coach Barry Eaton plans but training hard.”
“This additional fixture will give those players an opportunity to showcase their talent, having lost 2 pre season games to the inclement weather over the last 2 months.”
“This fixture is a first for the Hunslet Club in hosting professional opposition at their own home, the facilities they have at their disposal are excellent and they are moving in the right direction both on and off the field.”
“The game gives the Parkside players an opportunity to test themselves against some seasoned professionals before they kick off their very own exciting season in the National Conference”
“It also gives us the opportunity to enhance our brand as a community club right at the heart of South Leeds, as well as helping the Parkside club raise much needed funds.”
