Hawks no more: Supporters vote to rename club

Hunslet Hawks fans were recently given the opportunity to vote on the potential rebrand of the club which included dropping the suffix Hawks from the clubs name and renaming the club Hunslet RLFC.

The vote which was run both online and with a physical vote at the recent Kingstone Press League 1 Super 8s fixture against Doncaster attracted great interest from supporters of all ages.

The club today announced the result of that vote.

The result of the vote was overwhelming with 83% of supporters voting in favour of renaming the club Hunslet RLFC.

Hunslet Hawks General Manager Martin Flynn commented:

“The number of supporters who took the time to vote far exceeded our expectations and underlined the passion our supporters have for this great club. The result of the vote has shown that overwhelmingly our fans, across all generations, wish the club to be called HUNSLET R.L.F.C.”

“I would like to thank all our supporters for engaging with this process, and ultimately playing a part in shaping the clubs future. I look forward to working together with you all to move Hunslet R.L.F.C. forward.”

The next stage of the rebranding exercise will be to invite fans to vote on the new club crest, this will take place at our final home game of the 2016 season against Toulouse on Saturday 3 September.

There will be no online vote, so to cast your vote and play a part in defining the club’s future you will need to attend the final game of the season.
