Situated over the River Aire, to the south of the station complex, the new £14.2m entrance will give direct access to and from the station to the river and canal-side areas around Granary Wharf and Water Lane. It’s hoped the entrance will improve access to Holbeck and surrounding areas in south Leeds.
Metro is holding three exhibition events for passengers, local residents and businesses, to be held on:
– Monday 5 December from 6:30am until 10am at Leeds Rail Station
– Tuesday 6 December from 4pm until 7pm at Leeds Rail Station
– Wednesday 14 December from 2pm until 7pm at Mint Hotel, Granary Wharf
Metro staff will be on-hand to answer questions about the new station entrance proposals at all three events.
Anyone unable to attend can still have their say by visiting www.wymetro.com/lsse and completing the on-line questionnaire; by emailing email@example.com; or by writing to Leeds Station Southern Entrance, Metro, 40-50 Wellington Street, Leeds, LS1 2DE.
Construction is due to start in summer 2013 and the new entrance is expected to open in summer 2014.
