Haunted Happenings on the New Forest Village

Thanks to Friends of New Forest Village who sent this report in:

If you went to the plantation last night you were sure of a big surprise as almost 200 witches, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, monsters, ghouls and hell hounds gathered on Sharp Lane Plantation last night for the Friends of New Forest Village’s first ever Fright Night.

It was wet, cold and dark, but that did not deter the brave children (and their not so brave parents) from passing through the ghoulish gateway and entering the petrified plantation.
Once they passed the faceless gatekeeper, they helped:

  • Dracula find some blood
  • Frankenstein some spanners
  • a witch some bats and
  • a ghost something to eat

They were rewarded for their efforts with treats of their own from the seemingly bottomless supply!

The Friends of New Forest Village would like to thank everyone who ventured onto the petrified plantation for their patience and good humour and hope we gave you all a night to remember.

A special thanks goes to Vishful Photography, the Pet Nanny Leeds and Auntie Claire`s Cakery for donating prizes for the fancy dress competitions and to the South Leeds Youth Hub for the loan of some canteens and a table. Thank you also to those who donated sweets, props and gazebos. Last, but certainly not least, thanks to the small group of volunteers, led by Louise Nichols for putting on such a fantastic event.

We are already thinking about what to do next, so please let us have any suggestions!
