Happy and healthy groups at the Hamara Centre

Hamara and Leeds Community Foundation have come together to launch a series of new groups for individuals who have recently undergone treatment for poor mental health.

The groups offer opportunities for adults aged 17+ to experience a myriad of activities that encourage interaction and combat social isolation; to learn new skills and experience a sense of achievement; to aid recovery by enabling individuals to develop tools to help in the management of their conditions. All of this and much more is offered in a friendly, safe and supportive environment.

Activities include:

  • Gardening and Woodwork
  • Artful Minds
  • Reviving Body and Mind
  • Dancing Days September
  • Singing for Health and Happiness
  • Healthy and Creative Cooking
  • Coffee, Cake and Conversation
  • Furniture Upcycling
  • Creative Writing
  • Speaking with Confidence

Individuals are able to self-refer onto a group. They may also be referred to the groups by a health care professional, friend or family member.

Please call Hamara on (0113) 277 3330 and a referral form can be sent out to you. If you require any assistance with the referral process please contact us by emailing sarah.dransfield@hamara.co.uk or call Sarah on 07470 977878.

The Hamara Healthy Living Centre is located on Tempest Road in Beeston Hill, LS11 6RD

South Leeds Life is published by a not-for-profit social enterprise. We keep our costs as low as possible but we’ve been hit by increases in the print costs for our monthly newspaper which have doubled in the last two years.
