The Halifax Community Fund have provided funding for St Luke’s Cares to purchase a 15-seater minibus to support their work, and the work of their partners, in the local community.
In addition to providing much needed transport for the young people with whom St. Luke’s Cares work with each week, the minibus has also been put to good use by other groups in the community providing transport for 4 youth groups run by the Salvation Army and their partners each week and for year 5 pupils from a local school to go swimming.
St Luke’s Cares Manager, Jackson Turner stated:
“We are really grateful to the Halifax Community Fund for assisting us with the purchase of the bus. Our hope is that, not only will we benefit hugely from using the bus, but it will also be used by other local groups in the community to provide a very affordable transport solution. Minibuses are very hard to hire at affordable prices and we really hope that in making this bus available to other groups and organisations in the community we can make a real difference.”
The members of the Halifax Community Fun are very keen to see the minibus become a valuable community resource so St Luke’s Cares are making the minibus available to hire on a self-drive basis. The minibus has 15 sets including the driver and is insured to be driven by any person with no endorsements and a category D1 on their driving licence.
Any groups or organisations interested in hiring the minibus should contact Mark Hodgkinson on mahodgkinson85@hotmail.com for further details.
This transportation is best for the youngsters. Thanks for the post.
