This weekend (16-18 June 2017) will see the biggest neighbourhood celebrations since the Jubilee street parties as people come together to share food and celebrate everything we have in common.
The initiative has been organised in memory of Jo Cox, the MP for Batley and Spen who was murdered during the referendum campaign last year. In her maiden speech in Parliament she talked about how have far more in common than that which divides us. That is the spirit her family are keen for her to be remembered for.
Local events have been set up by volunteers across the country including several in South Leeds. Ranging from tea and a chat at a doctor’s surgery to a food and music extravaganza outside Dewsbury Road One Stop Centre, all the events provide a chance to get together with your neighbours and have some fun.
