The famous Marshall Waddington funfair is in Hunslet this week, open Thursday until Sunday (11th-14th August), 1pm-9pm on the Grove Road recreation ground opposite the Penny Hill Centre. The funfair is free to enter, and features a range of rides (typically £1.50-£2 each) and entertainment for all ages. (At least for kids and youngsters!)
We can’t guarantee these rides (pictured, courtesy of Marshall Waddington) will be out this week – but they serve to tell the Waddington story, as the original and oldest funfair in Yorkshire, dating back to the early 1800s and since run by eight successive family generations.
