‘Free Shops’ return as students move out

A series of Free Shops will pop up across South Leeds where residents can pick up second hand items left behind by students leaving Leeds after their studies.

The ‘Big Clear Out’ (formerly ‘Leave Leeds Tidy’) is an annual project to gather up as many unwanted household goods as possible from students leaving the city, and divert it into free shops around the city – where people can come grab free stuff for their homes. The scheme has been running for over 12 years, and nearly 200 tons of goods have been diverted from landfill and given a new lease of life.
