Every Tuesday morning you’ll find a friendly group of ladies down at Hunslet Methodist Church.
When I met them they were keen to tell me about their latest project, taking part in an intergenerational dance performance with Northern Ballet. The piece involved several groups with ages from 3-75.
“The youngsters jumped about, ours was more a gentle movement.”
Each group rehearsed on their own and then came together for the performance.
“The rehearsals were a bit intense, but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, I really enjoyed it.”
The group, which is facilitated by Health For All, choose an activity to do each quarter. This autumn they have chosen arts and crafts and are busy making cards, decorations and jewellery ready for Christmas.
They also get out for trips, visiting the West Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Shibden Hall over the summer. This month they are off to the theatre to see the play Fat Friends.
The group are always looking for new ladies to join them, so if you looking to make some new friends, or just a cuppa and a chat get down to Hunslet Methodist Church, Telford Terrace, off Balm Road.
