Yesterday saw the final session of South Leeds Life’s first Community Reporters course.
Over ten weeks our students have learned about photography, writing, interviewing and much more. We’ve had some stimulating discussions about the role of news, legal issues, social media, the ethics of reporting and the future of newspapers.
You can read elsewhere what each of our reporters thought about the course. Reading through their reports reinforces the great range of styles and interests they have. This is very important for South Leeds Life. We want to have a range of views and and a range of writing styles – a range of voices reflecting the many voices of South Leeds.
I would like to thank all the students for the energy they brought to the course and put into each task we gave them. And I look forward to reading their reports here on South Leeds Life in the future.
We will be starting two new Community Courses courses shortly. One daytime course particularly for people who live or work in Belle Isle and Middleton; and a second evening couse for people who cannot attend the daytime courses. Watch out for full details coming shortly.
