Feeling artistic at Cockburn Reach Academy

Pupils from Cockburn Reach Academy recently took part in a creative and engaging Art workshop led by local artist Penny, from Penny’s Community Arts.

The workshop encouraged children to explore and express their feelings through Art, using their whole school feelings thermometer as a visual and reflective tool. Pupils were supported to think about different emotions and represent them through mark making, experimenting with a range of materials, lines, patterns, and textures to show how feelings can change and develop.

The sessions provided a calm and inclusive space where Art was used as a universal language, allowing children to communicate thoughts and feelings that may be difficult to express verbally.
