
Hunslet Festival returns on Saturday (14 June 2025) from 11:30am-4pm and plans are coming together to make this year’s event bigger and better.
Hunslet Festival is an annual event taking place in June on Church Street/Grove Road field in Hunslet. It is a fantastic celebration of the community and features an array of attractions including dance and musical performances in our arena, a range of attractions and a diverse range of stalls from local community groups and businesses.
2024 was the start of new chapter for the refreshed Hunslet Festival and feedback from the event was hugely positive. A report on a success event can be found here. The organising committee continue to build on the strong foundations laid here from an established event whilst freshening up the event with some new ideas.
New for 2025 are the Birds of Prey from SMJ Falconry who will be on display throughout the day whilst also providing a flying demonstration in the Performance Arena at 1:30pm.
Also new for 2025 is a Sports Arena giving children a chance to try a range of new or different sports.
LS-TEN are offering FREE skateboarding lessons in the playground from 12noon.
Middleton Skaters will be providing FREE drop in rollerskating between 2-4pm.
Yorkshire Cricket will be there throughout the day with an inflatable throwing challenge for people to test their skills.
Hunslet RLFC will be taking a break from their Championship season to promote club activities.
The Big Bike Fix will also be providing FREE simple bike repairs so bring along your tired bikes and get them freshened up for the summer. Alongside this Leeds City Council will be providing Road Safety info and provided bike security tagging.
There are plenty of FREE activities for children and families to enjoy including:
- Climbing wall provided by Herd Farm
- Circus skills workshop from local favourite Rapide Entertainment
- Ian’s Mobile Farm are bringing a range of animals for stroking, cuddling and feeding
- Yorkshire Contemporary will provide a range of interactive arts & play activities.
- Leeds Youth Service will be bringing their Youth Bus & some activities for children and young people
- West Yorkshire Police are bringing a Police van and other equipment for kids to have a try on.
Alongside these will be a range of fantastic performances in the arena throughout the day including professional performers and community groups. Dance groups, musical performances, a choir and sports showcase are all booked in.
City of Leeds Sea Cadets will performing a drill demonstration as part of the Official Opening Ceremony from 11:30am.
Around the site there will be a broad variety of stalls from community groups and local businesses.
The food offering has been expanded this year with burgers/barbecue provided by The Hunslet Club, pizzas served by the Salvation Army and also local caterer Shazia Akhtar will be providing a range of Asian cuisine. And of course ice cream will be available!
Fairground rides and inflatables will also be on offer for a small fee.
All in all an action packed day is in store. Bring your family, friends and neighbours. Please join us as we celebrate our community together in the sunshine (fingers crossed!)
