Easter 2015: Activities for the school holidays

Easter weekend may be over, but the school holidays still have two weeks to run. We’ve got a roundup of South Leeds activities to keep the children entertained.

Tuesday 7 April

Free family film afternoon. Come and watch Paddington at Belle Isle Family Centre, cheap refreshments, children must be accompanied.

Tuesday 7 – Friday 17 April

Join in with games, sports, beauty and art at the Activity Camp at The Hunslet Club. £8 per day, £4 per half day, booking essential.

Tuesday 7 – Wednesday 9 April

Hunslet Hawks have organised an Activity and Dance camp for boys and girls aged 6-11. £7.50 per day, booking essential.

Tuesday 7 and Tuesday 14 April

Join Amy, from Wild Apple Play for Fun in the Woods in her woodland camp, building dens, cooking with mud and getting crafty with things she finds in the wood. Middleton Park Visitor Centre from 1pm.

Wednesday 8 April

Go behind the scenes at Leeds Discovery Centre to find out more their animal collection. Free, but booking essential.

Wednesday 8 and Wednesday 15 April

Leeds Play Network are doing Arts and Crafts inspired by Nature and Outdoor Fun and Games in Middleton Park, 1-3pm.

Friday 10 April

Easter Egg Hunt at The GATE centre in Belle Isle from 10am.

Drop in to Middleton Park and try out den building, co-operative games and crafts with the Woodcraft Folk. Meet outside the Cafe, look for the big event shelter or flag banners.

Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 April

Take a ride on the oldest railway in the world. Middleton Railway runs trains from 11am-4pm every weekend from Hunslet up to Middleton Park. Entry to the engine house exhibition is free.

Monday 13 – Wednesday 15 April

If football’s your thing join The Hunslet Club’s Football Camp. £8 per day, booking essential.

Tuesday 14 April

Egg Hunt, Easter Bonnet competition, nail bar, bouncy castle and much more. Cottingley’s Easter Fair takes place from 2pm at the Community Centre.

Wednesday 15 April

Go behind the scenes at Leeds Discovery Centre to find out more ancient Egypt. Free, but booking essential.

Thursday 16 April

Learn to ride your bicycle or join an improvers class at Middleton Park. Costs £5 and booking essential.

Join the Spring Family Fun at Belle Isle Family Centre – free from 10am-12pm.

Make a Nature Notebook to keep your observations in. Run by RSPB at Middleton Park.

Saturday 18 April

Explore the past with the Young Archaeologist Club. For children aged 8-17, the club meets monthly at Middleton Park Visitor Centre from 10am to 12pm.

Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 April

Take a ride on the oldest railway in the world. Middleton Railway runs trains from 11am-4pm every weekend from Hunslet up to Middleton Park.
