Middleton’s Design & Print United offers training to disadvantaged

 

We are a small voluntary constituted user led group based in Middleton, South Leeds called ‘design & print united’.

Layout 1The aims of the group are to promote the health and well being of people with mental health problems learning disabilities BME communities disadvantaged groups, ex convicts by breaking down barriers, reducing stigma and discrimination and promoting inclusion in employment and training especially by the provision of print and design.

We can offer the users free 1-1 tuition, free use of computers, free help and support in accessing college courses,or employment opportunities if they arise.

The programmes we will teach are basic IT skills, quark and Photoshop design packages, internet usage, Microsoft (new clait) packages.

Please note that service users can come in whenever it suits them and learn at their own pace in a very flexible Therapeutic environment. Also the service users can just refer themselves or through their key workers.

I can come to community group meetings and discuss the possibility of recruiting anyone who is interested in joining our user led group. We also do printing jobs for local businesses and local charities and get support from South Leeds Community Network.
