An arts and crafts fundraising afternoon is being held on Sunday 3 April at St Luke’s Church on Malvern Road in Beeston.
The event is the brainchild of 8 year old Dorothy Brewer, who is in Year 4 at St Luke’s Primary School.
Having seen and heard about the situation facing refugees fleeing Ukraine she came up with the idea of a fundraising event at her church.
The afternoon will feature:
- Sunflower planting
- Card making
- Facepainting
- Biscuit decoration
- Refreshments
Donations of 50p per activity are suggested and £1 for tea and cake.
Mum Rowena is helping, but all the ideas have come from Dorothy. They talked ideas through and came up with things Dorothy wanted to do and could be moulded to a Ukrainian theme such as the sunflowers.
“She’s a busy girl, always on the go, but this the first time she planned and organised an event like this” she explained.
