Countryside comes to Greenmount Primary

With many children in South Leeds not getting the chance to visit the countryside, Greenmount Primary School has organised for farm animals to visit Beeston.

‘Farmer Dave’, David Schofield from Bowland Farm near Clitheroe brought hens, sheep, goats, ducks and alpaca to the school in what has become an annual visit. Children throughout the school got a hands on experience with the animals and learned about the role farming plays in their lives.

Headteacher Jenny Wilde said:

“It’s really important we give the children experiences like this as many will not get the chance to visit the countryside with their families.”

The children clearly enjoyed it, eagerly volunteering to hold or feed the animals.
