South Leeds Life is looking for people to join the Board of the not-for-profit company which oversees this newspaper and the website.
South Leeds Life is politically impartial and we do not allow serving Councillors to be members of the Board. So as a consequence of winning the election in Hunslet & Riverside ward, Ed Carlisle has resigned from the Board.
Ed has served on the Board for many years and was Chair for some of the time. We will certainly miss his energy.
Thanking him for his service, South Leeds Life Chair Christine Smart said:
“Thank you, Ed, for all the work you’ve put into South Leeds Life and helping it become what it is today. We will miss your input, but hopefully you will still find time to submit the occasional article.”
The Board meets monthly, currently online, to review the editorial output, both in print and online. They oversee the finances to ensure that South Leeds Life can keep publishing and support volunteers.
The current members are:
- Christine Smart (Chair)
- Bruce Davies (Secretary)
- Rocio Torres (Treasurer)
- Kushmina Begum
- Linda Meikle
- Stewart Walton
We are particularly looking for people with a background in journalism or business, but the most important quality is a passion for South Leeds and telling its stories.
If you would like to join the Board please send a 200 word application setting out what skills, knowledge and experience you would bring and details of what you would change to improve South Leeds Life. Email your application to info@southleedslife.com.
