On August 1st 2011, Joseph Priestley College merged with Leeds City College. The former Joseph Priestley sites in Beeston, Morley and Rothwell are now Leeds City College Centres, writes marketing manager Kirsty Lunn.
This partnership aimed to improve learning opportunities and provision in the City – bringing benefits to local learners, businesses and communities in South Leeds.
For 2012-13, this is certainly the case as these centres join the existing Leeds City College centres of Burton Road, South Leeds (Westmoreland Road, Beeston) and across the City to offer more than 600 part time courses from September 2012.
All of these South Leeds centres continue to offer a friendly and welcoming environment where local people can make new friends and learn new skills to benefit not just themselves but also the local community.
Part time academic and vocational qualifications are offered in subject areas including childcare & teaching assistant, computing, counselling, English & maths (inc. GCSEs), ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), hair & beauty, health & social care, motor vehicle.
For those preferring to learn for enjoyment, our wide range of arts & crafts, hobby & leisure and languages courses is not to be missed. Courses include:
- Astrology
- Cake decorating
- Clueless about computing
- Gardening
- Languages
- Motor Vehicle & Welding
- Photography
Plus many more!
Concessions are available on many courses (for those with few qualifications / on state benefits) and a number of courses are actually free, although some are subject to a small administration charge.
