Cold Weather Alert for England

The Met Office has issued a Level 3 Cold Weather Alert for England.

bitmo gate 2Please share this post and inform older people you know that there is a 90% probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions between Wednesday and the following Monday (11-16 February 2015) in England.

Make sure they have everything they need to keep warm and well. Some wintry precipitation can be expected for most areas too, mostly in the form of scattered showers, leading to lying snow and icy stretches in places.

As you get older it takes longer to warm up which can be bad for your health. The cold increases blood pressure, and breathing in cold air can increase the risk of chest infections.

The ideal temperature is 64°F (18°C) for your bedroom and 70°F (21°C) for your living room. Check your thermostat or use a room thermometer to monitor temperature, and keep your bedroom window shut on a winter’s night.
