Students from Cockburn School visited New York in February 2019 as part of their prize for winning The Big Deal 2019 – an enterprise competition run by York University.
The team consisting of Bradley Blackburn, Amadou Dibba, Samit Miah and Jamie Myers took their winning product to pitch to executives from Google and Gartner. The team shared ideas and enterprising conversations with a range of colleagues from both businesses.
The visit also allowed the students to visit the tourist attractions of New York including Times Square, Broadway, Rockefeller Centre, Central Park, 5th Avenue and Wall Street – the main hub of the New York financial district.
After the visit the students reflected on their time in New York. Speaking after the visit Samit said:
“The trip to New York was amazing! The highlight was having the chance to interact with executives from large global businesses.” Bradley Blackburn also commented “the trip to New York was amazing. I loved cycling around central park and experiencing the sights, sounds and energy of Times Square.”
Clearly the future is bright for Cockburn’s budding entrepreneurs and the trip to New York will help to develop a growth mindset for success in the future.
