Christmas Fayre at the Holbeck Underground Ballroom

Pay-What-You-Decide delicious hot food and mulled wine form the focus of Slung Low’s fifth annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday (6 December 2014).

The HUB (Holbeck Underground Ballroom) will welcome the community by bringing together local artists and craftspersons to celebrate the coming festive season. Craft stalls, home-made goodies and vintage goods, carols, live music and story telling will also be on offer throughout the afternoon. Admission is free and the event runs from 12-4pm.

HUB Xmas Fayre

Slung Low’s Artistic Director Alan Lane said

“Our Christmas Fayre is fast becoming a favourite tradition of ours. It’s been a big year for us in Leeds with the White Whale and our regular HUB programme and the chance to welcome people down to the HUB for festive cheer is a great way to end it.”

With another two festive events happening within walking distance (Holbeck Christmas Market at St Matthews and The Northern Monk Brewery hosting the Hope House Christmas market) there’s no better reason to spend Saturday afternoon in Holbeck.

Slung Low are based in 5 railway arches, The Holbeck Underground Ballroom (The HUB). They run the space as an open development resource for young and emerging artists, if you have need of the space to help make a piece of performance you are welcome to it. The HUB is also a makeshift performance space inviting companies from throughout Europe to present progressive, radical touring work that would not otherwise be seen in the city. These performances, presented usually on a Sunday, are all Pay What You Decide – the audience deciding on the way out how much they will pay for the show. All the box office goes to the visiting artists.

The HUB is located at 67-71 Bath Road, Holbeck, LS11 9UA, between Sweet Street and Water Lane. For more information visit their website: www.slunglow.org/ or Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SlunglowTheatre.
