Caring for the carers

Looking after a loved one with an illness or disability brings many rewards, but can also bring challenges too, especially during the current crisis.

But thanks to Carers Leeds, the charity dedicated to supporting unpaid carers across the city, you don’t have to struggle alone. Their expert team of Carer Support Workers continue to provide vital information, advice and support throughout this difficult time.

A carer is someone who, without payment, provides support to a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, dementia, mental health issues or a substance misuse problem, cannot manage without their help.

You might not have thought of yourself as a carer but if this sounds like you, get in touch with Carers Leeds. Their advice line is open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Call (0113) 380 4300 or e-mail advice@carersleeds.org.uk.

They are also running online support groups and wellbeing sessions. These groups are a fun way to relax and have a break from your caring role. For full details, visit their website: www.carersleeds.org.uk/events
