Cllr Paul Wray and Cllr Mohammed Iqbal (Labour, Hunslet & Riverside) have welcomed the announcement that the play equipment upgrades for Brickfields Park on Beeston Hill are due to be installed from next week (23 May 2022).
Cllr Paul Wray said
“It is great to see this long wanted upgrade to Brickfield Park are about to be delivered. Residents have long asked for this green space to have play equipment and more installed. Cllr Iqbal and I were happy to have allocated significant funds to this project earlier this year.”
The improvements will include:
- balance beams
- pull up bar station
- stepping pods
- slide
- additional pathway creating a cycle circuit for children to learn to bike on
- thermoplastic play markings
- woodland trail and information boards for future planting plans
- static gym city-bike
- static gym arm-bike
- swings
It has been agreed that one or two items of the new play equipment will be installed each day – ensuring the units are finished before the end of each day.
This means the scheme will take slightly longer to install, but that the park can be opened at the end of each day for people to use and allow local children to play during the half term.
