Breeze Friday Night Project

As a candidate in the local election I have had the opportunity to meet some fantastic groups and organisations over the campaign period, so I thought I would do a couple of articles on a few that stood out.

Youth work has always had a massive place in my heart, it’s something i feel makes a whole difference to a community and to the kids in our community, so I went to visit Breeze at Middleton Leisure Centre, somewhere I coached multi sports many years ago. It was always a bit wild when I worked there and word has that it was still the same; but I was amazed to find that things had changed.

I was welcomed by staff who then introduced me to a young boy who happily showed me around and answered my questions, he loved showing me the different activities, art, computer gaming, sports (football, soft ball and more). The sessions were well supported by staff and volunteers and it was great to see young people volunteering as peer mentors. This project is something for the kids to do on a Friday evening, get your kids to try it out and make your own opinion.

Junior session is 8-12yr olds and runs 6-7:30pm.

Seniors session is for 12-18yrs and runs 7:30-9pm

Sessions cost £1.50 or £1 with a breeze card.
