As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month Hillside is hosting an awareness raising day, highlighting how to spot breast cancer and focusing on the support you and your loved ones can get to help you at this difficult time. A diagnosis of breast cancer can be frightening and the treatment gruelling. Surgery, hair loss, radiation, chemotherapy and medication can all take its toll. Medical treatment is necessary, but you will need so much more than this.
Hillside has teamed up with Breast Cancer Haven who are based in Leeds. They offer advice on practical things like money and work, help combatting stress, exhaustion and nausea, advice on healthy eating and exercise. And above all, there will always be someone to talk to about your deepest fears.
Their trained professional nurses, therapists, counsellors and advisers listen to your individual concerns and give you all the practical, emotional and physical support you need in a tailor-made package. Their support is free of charge and available in their Breast Cancer Haven centre – which is as far away from a hospital environment as you can imagine. Although based in Leeds they cover the whole of the Yorkshire area and around 50% of their current visitors are from the York area.
Get along to Hillside Monday 16 October 2017 4-7pm to find out more. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information about who else will be attending www.facebook.com/HillsideLeeds.
