Belle Isle man charged with jewellers break in

Two Leeds men have appeared before magistrates charged with robbery following a break in at a jewellers in Morley.

Both men appeared before the morning session of Leeds Magistrates Court after being charged with offences following a break-in at Ramsdens jewellers on Queen Street, Morley on Thursday (8 June 2023).

Lee Wakefield (38) of Belle Isle Road, Leeds, appeared charged with robbery and two offences of handling stolen goods.

Ashley Cookson (38) of Flexbury Avenue, Morley appeared charged with robbery, two offences of handling stolen goods, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear before Leeds Crown Court.

Enquiries remain ongoing by Leeds CID into the break-in and anyone who witnessed the offence or has footage that will assist, is asked to contact Leeds District CID on 101, or by using the live chat on the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 600 of 8 June.
