Beeston nursery judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted

The Little Owls Nursery City & Holbeck has been judged Outstanding in all areas following its recent inspection by Ofsted, published on Thursday (27 July 2023).

The Council-run nursery, located on Hunslet Hall Road, was dlast inspected in 2017 when its overall effectiveness was judged to be ‘Good’. A staff of 14 look after 47 1-4 year olds.

Inspectors praised the staff’s reactive skills, adapting the curriculum to build on children’s expressed interests. They also praised the use of outdoor space including the vegetable garden. Comments included:

“Children excitedly bound into the nursery. Staff build exemplary relationships with children and families, which begins on initial home visits.”

“All children excel from their starting points in development on entry. They develop independence and a wealth of essential skills and knowledge that equips them for starting school.”

“The manager’s and staffs’ passion and expert teaching shines through and is reflected in children’s immense fun and enjoyment of learning. For example, younger children curiously explore intriguing tactile media. Older children excitedly talk about the insects that scurry away when staff move large stones and tyres. They enthusiastically learn how to harvest potatoes, showing great cooperation and focus.”
