Beeston Lantern Festival: Light in the Darkness

It is with great excitement we announce that the Lantern Festival will return in December and WE NEED YOUR HELP!

2020 has been a challenging year in many ways – we hope the Lantern Festival can play a part in brightening up the Christmas season and help the year finish well. Due to restrictions the Lantern Festival will look differently – full details will be released over coming weeks but we are exploring a mix of public displays, online content and activities for you to take part in.

You are invited to contribute to producing a piece of community art which will be displayed during the festival. The art work will be made up of images submitted from people of all ages on the theme of HOPE. Pictures can be of anything and we are excited to see the variety and creativity of responses that are sent in…

If you need some inspiration these questions may help: What brings you hope? What are you hopeful about? Where is hope in our community? What people, places or objects represent hope for you?

Entries need to be in photo form and submitted through email to beestonlanternfestival@gmail.com to or on Whatsapp to 07419 366058. By submitting you give consent for your photo to be displayed to the public in a physical form at the Lantern Festival but also online on South Leeds Life and through Lantern Festival social media platforms. Photos should be submitted by Monday 30 November.

More info on the Lantern Festival will be released over coming weeks – keep an eye on South Leeds Life and also our Social Media: facebook.com/BeestonLanternFestival and Instagram.com/BeestonLanternFestival.

The Lantern Festival launched in 2013 by the Churches Together in LS11 with the aim of bringing the community together and giving a chance to celebrate and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Over the years the Festival has gone from strength to strength with new ideas developing each year. Hundreds of people from all corners of our wonderful community attend each year.
