Bands return to Cross Flatts Park on Sunday

The Friends of Cross Flatts Park have announced this year’s programme for ‘Bands in the Park’ free Sunday afternoon concerts, including the annual dog show.

Sunday 2 July: In a change to the published programme you can see Gold Blend‘s ingenious mashups of your favourite tunes, followed by the sparkling guitar of Tim Dawty and the Liberators.

Sunday 9 July: The Salvation Army brass band playing tunes both religious and secular.

Sunday 16 July: ‘Swing O’Things’ playing old time classic swing tunes.

Plus the 18th Annual Beeston Dog Show. There are Pedigree and Fun categories, but who will be Best in Show? There is a charge of £3 for each class you enter your dog in. Entries on the day from 1:30pm, judging starts at 2:30pm.

Sunday 23 July: ‘Duo Nostalagia’ Songs accompanied by accordian promising tangos and more.

These free concerts run 2:30-4:30pm at the Watsonian Pavilion, near the top of Cross Flatts Park. The cafe will be serving drinks and homemade cakes and there will be free children’s craft activities each week.

On 9 and 23 July Wakefield ladies choir ‘She Sings’ will also perform.

The season is part-funded by Councillors on the Inner South Community Committee.
