Arrests made over Woodview Mount shooting

A man has been arrested today (14 May 2021) over an incident in Beeston where a gun was fired at a house.

The 21-year-old man was arrested early this morning when firearms officers executed warrants at two addresses in Belle Isle. Scenes remain in place at those addresses pending searches.

The operation is part of an ongoing investigation by West Yorkshire Police Firearms Investigation and Prevent Team following an incident at a house in Woodview Mount, Beeston, on Saturday 1 May, where damage was caused to the front door by a firearm discharge.

No-one was injured and the incident was not reported to police until Tuesday 4 May.

Three other men, aged 21, 24 and 29, have previously been arrested in relation to the investigation and released on bail.

The man arrested this morning remains in custody on suspicion of firearms offences and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Fiona Gaffney, of West Yorkshire Police Firearms Investigation and Prevent Team, said:

“We always treat the criminal use of firearms on our streets extremely seriously and will use every available means to relentlessly pursue all those responsible for offences such as this.”
