Apprenticeship opportunities at White Rose Centre

White Rose Shopping Centre commences search for local apprentices

Following on from the successful employment of three local apprentices last year, White Rose Shopping Centre has announced it is to employ two further apprentices to strengthen its facility services team OCS, which covers security, cleaning and customer services.

WhiteRose_May2015 10Two of last year’s apprentices, Liam Lightowler and Luke McConnell, successfully secured permanent employment at White Rose after finishing the 12 month programme, continuing to support the centre’s security and customer services teams. Due to the positive outcome of the apprenticeship scheme, White Rose Shopping Centre has decided to cast its recruitment net out to the local community in a bid to employ two 18-24 year olds looking to secure a career in facilities management.

The successful candidates will spend 12 months working alongside facilities management contractor OCS in the security, cleaning and customer service departments at the centre, whilst completing an NVQ Level 2.

Gina Knight, Customer Service Manager at White Rose Shopping Centre commented:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for two members of the local community to learn a number of new transferable skills which may potentially lead to further employment after the 12 month programme. Liam and Luke both performed strongly during their apprenticeship and, due to this, have gone on to secure further work with the team.”

Liam Lightowler commented: “I really enjoyed my apprenticeship and I’d encourage anyone looking to gain a career in customer service, cleaning or security to apply. I’ve learnt so much over the past 12 months and I can’t wait to further my career here at the White Rose Shopping Centre.”

The 12 month apprenticeship scheme is open to anyone living in the Leeds area aged 18-24. Those interested should apply by visiting www.ocs.co.uk/careers by 1 August.
